Starting from Leh, the trip covers Sham Valley, Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, and famous monasteries. The itinerary blends adventure, cultural exploration, and scenic beauty, making it perfect for nature lovers and thrill-seekers.

Itinerary

DAY1

Arrive at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, where you will be transferred to your hotel. The day is kept free to allow for proper acclimatization to the high altitude of Leh (around 11,500 ft), giving your body time to adjust to the Himalayan environment. Take the day to rest and relax at the hotel. In the evening, if you feel comfortable, you may take a short leisurely walk through Leh Market, exploring local shops and cafés before returning to the hotel for an overnight stay in Leh.

DAY2

After breakfast at the hotel, begin your day with a visit to the Hall of Fame, an Indian Army museum that showcases the history, culture, and bravery associated with Ladakh. Continue to seek blessings at the sacred Kali Mata Temple and the revered Gurdwara Pathar Sahib, a historic shrine maintained by the Indian Army. Next, visit Magnetic Hill, where vehicles appear to roll uphill on their own due to a fascinating optical illusion. A short drive further brings you to the breathtaking Sangam (Indus–Zanskar Confluence), where the contrasting waters of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers meet. Later, explore the peaceful Shanti Stupa, which offers sweeping panoramic views of Leh and the surrounding mountains. After a day of sightseeing, return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Leh.

DAY3

After breakfast at the hotel, begin your journey to the beautiful Nubra Valley (10,000 ft), traveling via the legendary Khardung La Pass (18,380 ft), one of the highest motorable roads in the world. Pause at Khardung La Top to take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks and capture memorable photographs. Continue the drive as the landscape gradually opens into the striking terrain of Nubra Valley, often referred to as the Valley of Flowers. Upon arrival, check in to your accommodation and take some time to relax. In the evening, head to the scenic Hunder Sand Dunes, where you can enjoy an optional ride on the rare double-humped Bactrian camels amid the dramatic high-altitude desert setting. Return to your stay for an overnight stay in Nubra.

DAY4

After breakfast at the hotel, visit the historic Diskit Monastery, the oldest and largest monastery in Nubra Valley, known for the towering Maitreya Buddha Statue that overlooks the valley. Continue to explore Hunder village, where you can observe the daily lifestyle and culture of the people living in this remote Himalayan region. Later, begin your scenic drive toward Pangong Lake via the picturesque Shyok River route, surrounded by dramatic mountain landscapes. Upon reaching Pangong Lake (14,270 ft), take in the beauty of this remarkable 120-km-long saltwater lake, famous for its crystal-clear waters that change colors throughout the day. While at the lake, visit the popular filming location from the Bollywood movie 3 Idiots, and spend time enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and stunning scenery. Later, check in to your cottages or camps near the lake for an overnight stay.

DAY5

Wake up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over Pangong Lake, where the morning light beautifully reflects across the lake’s ever-changing waters. After breakfast, begin the drive back to Leh via Chang La Pass (17,586 ft), one of the highest motorable mountain passes in the world. En route, take a short break at the pass to admire the dramatic Himalayan surroundings and enjoy a warm cup of tea. Continue the scenic journey and reach Leh by evening, where you can relax at your hotel or take time to explore the lively Leh Market. Overnight stay in Leh.

DAY6

After breakfast at the hotel, begin the day with a visit to the historic Shey Palace, once the royal residence of Ladakh’s kings. Continue to the impressive Thiksey Monastery, known for its grand architecture and the magnificent 49-ft-tall statue of Maitreya Buddha housed within the monastery complex. Later, visit the Hemis Monastery, where the museum displays fascinating artifacts, thangkas, and relics that reflect Ladakh’s rich cultural and religious heritage. You will also stop at the well-known Druk White Lotus School, popularly called Rancho School after its appearance in the film 3 Idiots.
