7 Day Assam – Meghalaya Escape

Discover the diverse landscapes of Assam and Meghalaya on an unforgettable 6 Nights / 7 Days journey through mist-covered hills, cascading waterfalls, lush green villages, wildlife and the mighty Brahmaputra. Starting from Guwahati, travel through the scenic beauty of Shillong, Cherrapunjee, Mawlynnong and Dawki, before heading to the wildlife-rich landscapes of Kaziranga National Park. Experience the charm of Umiam Lake, Nohkalikai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls, Mawsmai Caves, the Single Decker Living Root Bridge and the crystal-clear Umgot River. The itinerary also brings you closer to Assam's wildlife with an Elephant Ride and Jeep Safari at Kaziranga, followed by a scenic Brahmaputra sunset river cruise, subject to weather conditions and availability. The journey concludes with a visit to the iconic Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati.

Itinerary

DAY01

Distance: 130 km | Approx. 3 hours drive

Meet and greet at Guwahati Airport / Railway Station and drive towards Shillong.

En route, visit the scenic Umiam Lake and Lum-Er-Phylngn (Mini Pahalgam).

On arrival in Shillong, check in to the hotel. If time permits, explore Ward’s Lake, Don Bosco Museum and Elephant Falls.

Overnight stay in Shillong.

DAY02

Distance: 60 km | Approx. 2 hours one way

After breakfast, drive towards Cherrapunjee.

Explore Dwan Syiem View Point, Nohkalikai Falls, Mawsmai Caves, Seven Sisters Falls and Eco Park.

Check in to the hotel and relax.

Overnight stay in Shillong.

DAY03

Distance: 85 km | Approx. 3 hours one way

After breakfast, drive from Shillong to Mawlynnong Village, located in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya and popularly referred to as “God’s Own Garden.”

The village gained acclaim for being recognised as the cleanest village in Asia in 2003 and is known for its community-based eco-tourism initiative and beautiful natural surroundings.

Explore the village and trek to the Single Decker Living Root Bridge at the neighbouring village of Riwai.

You can also witness the fascinating Natural Balancing Rock, a natural phenomenon where a boulder balances on another rock.

Continue to Dawki and the Bangladesh Border (Tamabil Border from the Bangladesh side). The main attraction is the Umgot River, famous for its crystal-clear waters.

Guests can enjoy a boat ride on the Umgot River, with payment made directly.

In the evening, return to Shillong and check in to the hotel.

DAY04

Distance: 256 km | Approx. 5.5 hours

After breakfast, begin the journey towards Kaziranga.

Upon arrival, check in to the hotel and relax.

Overnight stay in Kaziranga.

DAY05

Start your day early with an Elephant Ride in Kaziranga National Park.

Elephant riding timings are:

  • 1st Ride: 5:15 AM – 6:15 AM

  • 2nd Ride: 6:30 AM – 7:30 AM

Timings are subject to availability.

Return to the hotel for breakfast.

After breakfast, enjoy some leisure time or opt to visit the surrounding tea plantations and rubber plantations.

After lunch, proceed for a Jeep Safari in the Central Range of Kaziranga.

Overnight stay in Kaziranga.

DAY06

Distance: 204 km | Approx. 4 hours

After breakfast, drive back to Guwahati.

In the evening, enjoy a sunset river cruise over the Brahmaputra River, subject to weather conditions and availability. Payment for the cruise is direct.

DAY07

After breakfast, visit the revered Kamakhya Temple.

Later, transfer to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your departure.
