8 Days Assam – Arunachal Pradesh Odyssey

Embark on an unforgettable journey through the breathtaking landscapes of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, travelling from the gateway city of Guwahati into the remote Himalayan beauty of Bhalukpong, Dirang, Tawang and Bomdila. Experience winding mountain roads, snow-capped peaks, ancient monasteries, hot water springs, war memorials and the unique culture of the Monpa tribes. Highlights include the Tipi Orchid Centre, Hot Water Spring, Sela Pass at 14,000 ft, Jaswant Garh War Memorial, Madhuri Lake, Bumla Pass and the magnificent Tawang Monastery. The journey also includes a visit to Bomdila Monastery before returning to Guwahati. Itinerary

DAY01

Distance: 241 km | Approx. 5 hours drive

Arrive at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station and begin your journey towards Bhalukpong, the gateway to Arunachal Pradesh.

Upon arrival, check in to the hotel and relax.

Overnight stay in Bhalukpong.

DAY02

Distance: 135 km | Approx. 4 hours drive

After breakfast, drive towards Dirang.

En route, visit the Tipi Orchid Centre and Hot Water Spring.

Continue towards Dirang and check in to the hotel.

The evening is free for leisure and relaxation.

Overnight stay in Dirang.

DAY03

Distance: 155 km | Approx. 6 hours drive

Begin your journey towards Tawang.

En route, witness the spectacular snow-capped Sela Pass at an altitude of approximately 14,000 ft and visit the Jaswant Garh War Memorial.

Jaswant Garh commemorates Jaswant Singh Rawat, a Mahavir Chakra awardee of the 4th Battalion Garhwal Rifles, who is remembered for his role during the 1962 India-China war. According to local legend, his spirit continues to protect the area.

Continue towards Tawang.

Overnight stay in Tawang.

DAY04

Enjoy a full-day excursion to the spectacular Madhuri Lake and Bumla Pass.

The excursion is payable directly, and the visit to Bumla Pass is subject to permission granted by the DC Office, Tawang.

Return to Tawang after the excursion.

DAY05

Explore Tawang, the beautiful land of the Monpa tribes and home to the magnificent Golden Namgyal Lhatse Monastery, one of the largest monasteries of the Mahayana Buddhist tradition in Asia.

The monastery is associated with the 6th Dalai Lama, dates back around 400 years and is adorned with an impressive 18-foot-high statue of Lord Buddha.

Known as the “Land of Dawn-lit Mountains”, Tawang sits at approximately 3,500 metres and offers spectacular natural surroundings.

Visit the Tawang Monastery and War Memorial.

The evening is free for shopping and leisure.

DAY06

Distance: 180 km | Approx. 6 hours drive

After breakfast, begin the journey towards Bomdila.

Upon arrival, check in to the hotel.

Later, visit the serene Bomdila Monastery.

The evening is free for leisure.

DAY07

Distance: 380 km | Approx. 8 hours drive

After an early breakfast, begin the long scenic drive towards Guwahati.

Upon arrival, check in to the hotel and relax.

Overnight stay in Guwahati.

DAY08

In the morning, visit the revered Kamakhya Temple.

Later, transfer to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your departure.
