Itinerary

DAY1

Upon arrival at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, enjoy a comfortable private transfer in a Xylo / Innova to your hotel in Leh. The morning is reserved for rest and acclimatization, allowing your body to gradually adjust to the high altitude of 11,500 ft, which is essential for a comfortable and safe journey ahead.

In the evening, take a gentle walk through the Leh Main Market, where you can observe the rhythm of local life and explore small shops and cafés. Later, visit the beautiful Shanti Stupa, the iconic white-domed monument, to witness a panoramic sunset over the Leh valley and surrounding mountains.

DAY2

Begin the day with a visit to Leh Palace, the 17th-century former royal residence and a remarkable example of Tibetan architecture, offering sweeping views of the surrounding valley. Continue to the Hall of Fame, a moving museum built by the Indian Army that honors the courage and sacrifice of soldiers who served in the region.

Later, visit the peaceful Sankar Gompa, a serene monastery known for its beautiful architecture and traditional paintings. The day’s highlight is a private guided heritage walk through the Old City of Leh, where you will discover hidden stupas, narrow alleys, and traditional Ladakhi mud-brick houses, offering a glimpse into the town’s rich cultural past.

DAY3

Begin the journey towards Nubra Valley, driving across the legendary Khardung La Pass (17,582 ft), one of the highest motorable roads in the world, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Continue to Diskit Monastery, the oldest and largest monastery in Nubra Valley, where the magnificent 106-foot Maitreya Buddha statue overlooks the valley and the flowing Shyok River.

Later, arrive at the remarkable Hunder Sand Dunes, known for their surreal cold desert landscape set against snow-capped mountains. In the evening, enjoy the day’s highlight with a sunset Bactrian Camel Safari, riding the unique double-humped camels across the silver sand dunes of Hunder.

DAY4

Set out on a scenic drive to Turtuk, the last village on the Indian side of the border, which was opened to tourists only in 2010. Nestled amidst dramatic mountains and lush greenery, this unique village offers a rare glimpse into a different cultural landscape of Ladakh.

Explore the rich Balti culture, distinct from the rest of the region, as you walk through charming apricot orchards and traditional village paths. The highlight of the day is an authentic Balti culinary lunch, where you can savor local specialties such as Zan with Tsamik, a traditional preparation made with local greens and walnut sauce.

DAY5

Begin the journey along the scenic Shyok River route, traveling through dramatic mountain landscapes on your way to the world-famous Pangong Lake. Upon arrival at Pangong Tso (13,943 ft), witness the breathtaking beauty of this high-altitude lake, renowned for its mesmerizing color-changing waters that shift from turquoise to deep blue throughout the day.

As evening approaches, relax by the lakeside and enjoy a peaceful cup of tea while the surrounding mountains reflect in the crystal-clear waters, creating a truly serene Himalayan moment.

DAY6

Start the day early with spectacular sunrise views over Pangong Lake, as the first light of the morning reflects beautifully on the lake’s shimmering waters and surrounding mountains. Later, begin the return journey to Leh via Chang La Pass (17,585 ft), one of the highest motorable passes, offering breathtaking high-altitude scenery along the way.

En route, stop at the magnificent Thiksey Monastery, often called the “Mini Potala”, where you can witness the peaceful morning prayers or admire its impressive architecture and panoramic valley views.

DAY7

Begin the day with a scenic drive to Sangam, the spectacular confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers, where the contrasting colors of the two rivers meet against a dramatic mountain backdrop. Continue to Magnetic Hill, famous for its fascinating gravity-defying optical illusion, where vehicles appear to roll uphill on their own.

Later, visit the serene Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, a historic Sikh shrine maintained by the Indian Army, known for its peaceful surroundings and spiritual significance. The day concludes with a traditional Ladakhi farewell dinner at a farm-to-table restaurant in Leh, celebrating the end of your memorable journey through the Himalayas.

After an early breakfast, proceed with a comfortable transfer to Leh Airport in your Xylo / Innova for your onward flight home.
